Pioneer annually produces over 600,000 tons of sand and gravel in Dover, Delaware.

With two of the largest production facilities in the Delmarva Peninsula, Pioneer Materials produces in excess of one million tons of sand and gravel annually.

A variety of sand and gravel products is produced.

Four different gravel products are available:

  • 3/8" gravel — ready mix concrete, landscaping, drainage
  • 3/4" gravel — ready mix concrete, septic drainage
  • 1"-2" gravel — drainage, landscape
  • Landscaping — decorative usage

In addition to concrete sand, Pioneer is able to produce finer masonry sands, as well as USGA approved golf sands for bunkers and greens-mix blends.

3/8 Gravel

3/8" Gravel

  • This material is basically a bi-product of sand production.
  • 3/8" Pea Gravel is used in concrete, landscaping, and large underground tank installation.
3/4 Gravel

3/4" Gravel

  • This material is basically a bi-product of sand production.
  • 3/4" gravel is also used in concrete, landscaping, and underground tank installation.
1-2 inch Gravel

1"-2" Gravel

  • This material is basically a bi-product of sand production.
  • 1" to 2" gravel is on occasion used in concrete, used in very large septic system drain fields, and landscaping.
Landscaping Gravel

  • This material is basically a bi-product of sand production.
  • Landscaping Gravel is a large decorative stone.
Sand

Sand

  • Concrete Sand is used in the production of Concrete, on roads during snow storms in Delaware, to replenish Delaware Beaches, and mound septic systems.
  • Morter Sand (also called Mason Sand) is finer than concrete sand and is used in the setting of bricks and blocks, on volleyball courts, and in sand boxes.
  • Golf Course Sands:
    • Bunker Sand is used in the sand traps on golf courses
    • Dried & Screened Topdressing is used on tees and greens on golf courses
    • Fairway Topdressing is used on fairways on golf courses
    • Greensmix is used in the construction of tees and greens on golf courses
